HCR vs Halesowen Town Colts - 26th February 2012

A fine afternoon for a match against local rivals Halesowen Town Colts. Having had no competitive games since 29th January Rangers made a slow start allowing the Colts some opportunities.

Matty won the ball and superb work by Maz and Sam fed Hamza J who made no mistake from close range, a great finish to make the score 1-0.

The Colts equalised with a great finish having put Rangers under pressure.

Some great interplay between Aaron and Maz, with Hamza J shooting just wide. Hamza J had another good chance, which he was unable to convert.

The Colts took the lead when their player was '1 on 1' with the keeper amd made it 1-2. Just before the break Hamza J forced a great save from the Colts' keeper.

Half time.

2nd half.

The Colts were awarded a free kick which went over the bar. Jack displayed some quality defending to keep us out of trouble. Rangers put a free kick into the box a great effort by Maien was well saved.

The Colts nearly scored an own goal when they hit the cross bar - a let off. Maz produced some quality weaving through the midfield, feeding Sam a quality ball which he rifled into the back of the net to the joy of his team mates.

Josh came on and put in a great performance and putone just over the bar.

The game finished at 2-2 with Man of the Match awarded to Ben for his great defensive performance.

A good game of football, well done to all players from both sides.

Thank You and Goodbye to Youssef

We are all sorry to hear the news that Youssef is leaving the club for his own personal reasons.

Alongside Gamel, Rajab and Abdul he has been a driving force in setting up this fantastic new team at HCR and creating the playing spirit which has already taken us towards great achievements within only our second season.

We will miss his sense of humour and his positive, happy outlook, as well as his expert knowledge of the beautiful game, an unusual asset for a Liverpool supporting Mackem.

Youssef was as comfortable at the top of an ice covered climbing pole halfway up the Clee Hills as he was arguing contentious off-side decisions with opposition coaches from the sidelines of our games. All of which he did with that characteristic cheeky grin.

He should also be applauded for putting up with all the banter from Villa, Wolves and Albion supporting parents, especially his sparring partner Dean.

If HCR could afford medals Youssef, we would give you one, but in the meantime, thank you for your time and energy to HCR. Our very best wishes to you and we insist you come back every now and then to watch the matches.
